San Gabriel Decks & Patios, Wired in Order

San Gabriel decks with lights and outlets built in order: conduit and boxes set in the open frame and inspected before any board, then fixtures after decking.

On a San Gabriel deck with lights or outlets, the wiring has to be run and inspected while the joists are still bare, ahead of any board. That fixes the order of the build. Footings are inspected and poured, the frame goes up, the electrician runs conduit and sets boxes in the open bays, and both the framing and the electrical rough-in are signed off before decking closes over them.

In before the boards

Before the first board, the electrician brings a circuit from the house panel, sets a weatherproof box at each outlet and switch, and runs conduit along the joists to every light. Fixtures in stair risers or post caps need their boxes set and wire pulled at this stage. Low-voltage lights run from their own transformer, routed and secured under the frame before it closes. A hose bib or a drip line gets plumbed in the same window, so every pipe and wire under the deck is visible when the inspectors walk it.

After the rough-in

With the rough-in approved, joist tape goes on and the boards follow, with wire left coiled at each box. Guards and stairs come next, then the fixtures and devices are installed and tested. The final inspection covers the deck and the electrical together. If the lot slopes and the deck stands high, the conduit rides along the beams in straps, never loose on the soil, and a junction box under the frame stays reachable through a hatch or an open side. The permit set for San Gabriel shows circuit and fixture locations with the framing.
