Camarillo New Construction Drawn for Green Code Review
New houses in Camarillo with the state green building checklist answered on the plans: waste plan, water fixtures, EV readiness and coastal hardware.
Beside the structure and the energy forms, the City of Camarillo's plan reviewer looks for the state green building checklist on a new house set. Each mandatory item has to appear on the drawings with a note saying how it will be met, from water-saving fixtures to a construction waste plan. Mesa Rock Construction fills that checklist in while the lot is still being studied, and on a coastal Ventura County parcel the set also names corrosion-resistant hardware.
Checklist items the reviewer reads
Plumbing fixtures are listed with their flow rates, and any automatic irrigation shows a weather or soil moisture based controller. The electrical sheets show a conduit run and room in the panel for a future vehicle charger. Paints, adhesives and sealants are specified as low-emitting products, and framing lumber is checked for moisture before the walls are closed in. A construction waste management plan states how debris will be sorted and where it goes. If the lot slopes, the grading sheet and the waste plan are drawn up together, since both track what leaves the site.
Coastal parcels and exposed hardware
On a coastal lot, airborne salt eats at bare steel, so connectors at decks, eaves and other exposed framing call for stainless steel or hot-dip galvanizing. Fasteners into treated lumber must resist corrosion under the building code in any case. The reviewer may also ask whether the parcel falls inside the mapped coastal zone, since a parcel inside it can need its own coastal approval ahead of the building permit. We settle that question at the start of design and note the result on the cover sheet, so review time goes to the house itself.

New Construction in Camarillo: questions
Survey and soils work come first: property lines and contours from a licensed surveyor, then borings and a written report from the geotechnical engineer. Grading and drainage sheets follow, the parcel's coastal zone status is checked early because it can add an approval, and the green checklist and energy forms are filled in once the design settles.
Direct truck access to the pad keeps concrete and framing packages from being handled twice. A narrow or steep drive, or a rule keeping staging off the street, can add a pump, a forklift or split loads. The quote lists each of those apart, which makes the price of a hard approach easy to see.
Yes. From finished drawings we price every stage, grading to trim, and include the green code items and the corrosion-resistant hardware the set names. Where the drawings leave a fixture, a sealant or a connector unnamed, we choose a compliant product and price it, so bids can be compared on equal terms.
