Hillside and Level-Lot Construction in Los Angeles

Structural work, raised decks and new construction on sloped and level Los Angeles lots, with footings, retaining and access planned before framing.

Tell us about the lot and the job

A builder reads it and calls or emails you back. Nothing is booked until you agree to it. How we use your details.

To send, add what you are interested in, your first name and a phone number or an email.

Structural Work goes to the top of the list on a Los Angeles job whenever the ground under a house has started to move. A cracked retaining wall, a footing that has settled or a post leaning off plumb gets repaired before a deck, an addition or a new room is built over it. We read the lot, then the foundation, and only after that talk about finishes. A flat parcel follows the same order with less digging.

Permits through LADBS

Work inside the City of Los Angeles is permitted by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, known as LADBS. A tall retaining wall, new footings, a raised deck or an addition goes through plan check there, and a sloped parcel can add a grading review or a soils report. We confirm which reviews apply to your address before drawings start. That way the engineer, the plan set and the schedule are built around them from the first sheet, and nobody is surprised by a correction letter halfway through.

Getting material onto the lot

Access shapes a hillside job as much as the structure does. If the house sits above or below the street, concrete may need a pump, lumber may come in by hand and a staging spot has to be agreed before the first delivery. We look at where a truck can stand, where excavated soil can go and how a wheelbarrow path will run, and those answers are written into the scope with their own lines. Jobs in Eagle Rock, Glendale and West Hollywood are planned on the same terms.
